A successful splashdown for SpaceX’s Dragon capsule in the seas west of Baja California, and an excellent start to this new chapter in the history of space travel. SpaceX co-founder Elon Musk spoke today of wanting kids to be excited about space flight, and he’s right – today’s children will be the engineers, scientists and pilots of tomorrow; the human race needs to bootstrap itself out of Earth’s gravity well, ultimately for its survival in a vast, cold Universe, and a youthful spark of enthusiasm and excitement will go some way to fire up the engines and get us started on the next stage of that journey.
